Filipo and Verona - the earlier version of Heavenly Bodies

This is a recording of 'The Great Human Drama' which is the opening song from 'Filipo and Verona'.
The music is by Gerald van Waardenberg with lyrics by Kerry Lynch. This excerpt is from the Otahuhu College production in 2008. 'Filipo and Verona' is represented by Playmarket.

In this scene The Fates begin to explore how they can manipulate human behaviour by playing with the convention of gender opposites. The Principal roles of Filipo, Lawrence and Verona do not change but all of the Chorus are affected. This scene takes place at school prior to Filipo meeting Verona at the fated Chemistry lesson. This scene is from 'The twisted tale of Filipo and Verona' which was premiered at Otahuhu College in 2008.

In this scene Filipo and his best friend Lawrence are analysing Filipo's first encounter with Verona. Their conversation is interrupted by the arrival of Verona's cousin Roberto. Roberto proves to be yet another obstacle that Filipo will have to overcome.

This excerpt is from the scene titled 'Two Households'. In this scene Nonna has just found out that Roberto has threatened to injure any boy who tries to get close to his cousin Verona. Nonna is clearly unimpressed as the family have only relocated to Auckland recently and Roberto has a history of being over protective. There is also a bit of Martin (Filipo's Dad) Filipo and Lawrence at the end of this file. This recording is from the play 'The twisted tale of Filipo and Verona' by Kerry Lynch.

Realising that he has no future with Verona, Filipo once again gives up on school. The story has now advanced in time and similar to the start of the story, Lawrence attempts to reconnect with his best mate. This meeting is interrupted by a surprise visit by Nonna who shares the latest news about her granddaughter Verona.

Filipo and Lawrence are ready to perform their Pese Fa'amavae (a Samoan song of farewell) that they have composed for Verona. The performance of this song however begins to destablise the relationships between the three Fates. This composition was written by Gerald van Waardenberg, lyrics Kerry Lynch.
